Adding Wordpress.com, Tumblr and Identi.ca sites To Your Posterous Account

Today's lessons covers opening some more accounts on Web 2.0 sites and adding them to Posterous. The services not only provide you with another backlink to your micro-blog, they can also generate some organic traffic for you. The 3 services covered today by GuruBob are Wordpress.com, Tumblr and Identi.ca.

Starting off the day's lessons, GuruBob first shows how to signup for a Wordpress.com blog. The main difference that you need to understand between a Wordpress.com blog and a wordpress blog that you install yourself, is that Wordpress.com blogs are hosted on Wordpress.com and other Wordpress blogs are hosted on your own domain. GuruBob shows you a few examples of Wordpress.com blogs that are linked to a Posterous account and in particular points out where can place links to your own sites.

After showing you how to setup your Wordpress.com blog, GuruBob demonstrates how to login to your blog admin area, choose a new theme for your blog and edit the blog to include a link to your micro-niche site. Lastly, GuruBob walks you through the steps to add your new Wordpress.com blog to your Posterous account.

The next service that GuruBob shows you how to setup and add to your Posterous account is Tumblr. GuruBob shows you an example Tumblr blog and then shows you how to signup for your own. Also covered is how to customize your new Tumblr blog, including its appearance and the title and description. The description of your Tumblr blog is where you will place your anchor text link as demonstrated by GuruBob. Again, the last step is to add your new Tumblr blog to your Posterous account.

In the last video for Day 5, GuruBob introduces the micro-blogging service Identi.ca, which a similar style of service to Twitter. GuruBob takes you through the registration process, including the need to confirm your email address prior to using the service, and shows what details to include when editing your profile.

At the end of today's lessons you should be beginning to see the amount of leverage that Posterous provides by being able to auto-post to the various Web 2.0 platforms that you're signing up for.
