The Challenge Training

Building Your Publishing Platform Using Posterous

In today lessons, Ed outlines your process for setting up your own publishing platform using Posterous. The main reasons we use Posterous is because of the incredible leverage you get by simply sending an email and how easy Posterous is to setup.

What makes Posterous stand out from the crowd compared to other publishing services, is its ability to let you email in content. This opens up opportunities for you to be able to post fresh content from anywhere that you have an internet connection at the click of a button. The real standout though, is a feature of Posterous called auto-posting, which takes that freshly posted content on your Posterous site and distributes it to wide range of other sites and services that you set up. This is an enormous time saver. For example, you can link your Posterous account to your micro-niche blog, Twitter account, Facebook page, Tumblr blog, and have them all auto-publish new content just by posting to your Posterous site.

Setting yourself up to use Posterous couldn't be easier, you simply send an email to Posterous. Ed walks you through all of the steps in the process of signing up, choosing your personalized subdomain, adding a password and completing your profile. And just like you were able to do in your Squidoo lens, you are also able to put an anchor text link in your bio. Ed also points out the need to confirm the email address you used to sign up.

The next step in setting up your Posterous account is adding new services to post to. As an example, Ed shows you how you can add a blog and then runs a test to show you the auto-posting in action. Following on from that, Ed gives you an overview of the available services to add and makes some recommendations on services you should consider setting up and adding to Posterous. These include Twitter, Facebook Pages and LinkedIn.

**IMPORTANT** - While Ed shows you in his 2nd video how to add a Wordress blog to Posterous, he was only doing that to demonstrate the auto-posting functionality of Posterous. We do not recommend that you add your micro-niche WPD blog to Posterous.

Actions For The Day - 1. Signup your Posterous account. 2. Edit your Posterous profile. 3. Setup and add some of the recommended services to your Posterous account.
